Emma Kerr to Be Honored with Two Concerts
By Francisco SalazarScottish Mezzo-soprano Emma Kerr will be honored with two concerts in 2025.
The first concert will be held in London at St Matthias Church on Feb. 8, 2025 and the second will be held in Edinburgh at Greyfriar’s Kirk on April 27, 2025. Both events will bring together leading classical voices for an inspiring celebration of Kerr’s life and her deep love for music.
All soloists and chorus members were Kerr’s colleagues and friends from her time at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as singers from the English National Opera, Glyndebourne Opera, Scottish Opera, and Garsington Opera.
Funds raised from the events will go towards The Emma Kerr Classical Singing Award, which supports aspiring Scottish Mezzo-Sopranos who may otherwise struggle to attend the prestigious Oxenfoord Summer School.
Kerr died in 2021 and was named Scottish Opera Emerging Artist between 2015-17, was a Samling Artist in 2016 and won the Audience Prize in the Peter Hulsen Orchestra Song Award in 2017. She performed in the Glyndebourne Chorus and in 2015, she became a Jerwood Young Artist.
