Emily Pogorelc to Headline The Mozartists’ ‘I Jommelli – A Celebration’

The showcase, which takes place on Sept. 18 at Wigmore Hall, aims to explore the works of Niccolò Jommelli, an 18th century composer who created around 80 operas, almost all completely forgotten.
To celebrate the 250th anniversary of his death, the company is performing arias and scenes from his operas, including “Ezio,” “Merope,” “Didone abbandonata,” “Il Vologeso,” “Demofoonte,” “Fetonte,” “La critica,’ and “Ifigenia in Tauride,” among others. Vocal soloists include soprano Emily Pogorelc, mezzo-soprano Ambroisine Bré, and tenor Stuart Jackson.
Following this showcase, the company is set to present “Le Nozze di Figaro” in late October.
