Emerging Artists Theatre to Present Felix Jarrar’s ‘Songs from Nature’

By Afton Wooten

Emerging Artists Theatre will present “Songs from Nature” by Felix Jarrar as part of its 2022 New Work Series. The performance will take place at TADA Theatre in Manhattan on April 8 at 7 pm.

The program features two premieres. The first is the world premiere of “Otter Creek,” a jazz-influenced queer song cycle. The work follows three musicians and their experiences in their lives and careers. This piece does contain subject matters of “mental health and emotional wounds.” The second premiere is the NYC debut of “The Ulster County Songbook Volume I.”

Jarrar’s work will be staged and feature queer songs that explore finding personal solace in nature. Tenor Ryan Mangan and baritone Vince Gover will be joined at the piano by the librettist and composer.

All audience members are required to show proof of vaccination and wear a mask in the theater.
