Ema Katrovas to Headline Patricia Hampl’s ‘Writing My Way Into Music’ at The Schubert Club

Soprano Ema Katrovas will headline a recital at the Minnesota-based Schubert Club during the 2022-23 season.

The soprano will join forces with pianist Chouinard on May 16, 2023, for a program entitled “Writing My Way Into Music.”

The showcase will follow curator and narrator Patricia Hampl’s journey through music and her lifelong passion for Czech composers including Dvorak and Janacek, among others.

Katrovas is a Prague-based singer whose projects include the upcoming short musical film “Sentiment.” She is also a regular performer with Duo KaM, which she founded back in 2017. Katrovas has appeared with such companies as Kammer Oper Prague, F.X. Salda Theater, and the Silesian Theater.

Hampl is an author and journalist, whose most recognized work includes “A Romantic Education,” a Cold War memoir about her Czech heritage. Other work that she has published includes “The Florist’s Daughter,” “Blue Arabesque: A Search for the Sublime,” and “I Could Tell You Stories.”
