Elsa Dreisig Cancels Denmark Concert Tour

By Nicole Kuchta

Soprano Elsa Dreisig has announced via social media her decision to cancel her final three concerts of the year.

She was scheduled to perform Hugo Wolf’s “Italian Songbook” alongside baritone Bo Skovhus and pianist Christian Westergaard on July 30th and Aug. 1 & 2, 2019 at the Djurs og Mols Klassiske Koncerter, Odsherreds Chamber Music Festival, and CPH Opera Festival in Denmark.

Dreisig cites overwork and exhaustion as the reasons for her cancelation. The soprano most recently took on the role of Zerlina in “Don Giovanni” at the Opera de Paris and made her Korean debut performing Strauss’ “Vier Letzte Lieder” with the Gyeonggi Philharmonic.

She posted the following on both her Instagram and Facebook page: “Dear followers, friends, fans, family. . . I am very sorry to announce I will be canceling my last 3 concerts in this ‘crazy’ (but amazing!) year. I was really looking forward to coming to Denmark, my home, but I just can’t. Neither my voice, my body or my mind have the power. It has just been too much, and sometimes you need to make difficult choices in your life. This was one of them and I truly hope that I will make my ‘revanche’ soon, and come to Denmark and sing for you. I love this country so much and I am grateful for all your support. I will not let you down. I wish you all a beautiful summer, and see you next season.”
