Elizabeth Llewellyn to Perform ‘Luisa Miller’ at English National Opera

English National Opera has announced that the lyrico-spinto soprano Elizabeth Llewellyn will perform the title role in Verdi and Cammarano’s opera “Luisa Miller.”

Llewellyn will join a cast that includes baritone Olafur Sigurdarson, tenor David Junghoon Kim, mezzo-soprano Christine Rice, bass Solomon Howard, soprano Nadine Benjamin and bass James Creswell.

Alexander Joel is set to conduct the production by Barbora Horáková with stage design is by Andrew Lieberman.

Llewellyn made her operatic debut as Mimì in Puccini, Giacosa, and Illica’s “La bohème” at the English National Opera in 2010 and returned to the company the following year in the role of Countess Almaviva in Mozart and Da Ponte’s “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

During the 2019-20 season, Llewellyn has already made her Metropolitan Opera House debut in the title role in Gershwin and Heyward’s “Porgy and Bess.”

The run of “Luisa Miller” at the English National Opera starts on February 12 and will end on March 6, 2020 for a total of six performances.
