Elizabeth DeShong, Roderick Williams, David Portillo, Lauren Snouffer, Reginald Mobley Headline Music of the Baroque’s 2022-23 Season

Music of the Baroque has announced its 2022-23 season.

For the purposes of this article, our focus will be solely on vocal and operatic performances for the Chicago-based company.

The season kicks off with Händel’s “Jephtha” starring David Portillo, Lauren Snouffer, Clara Osowsi, Aryeh Nussbaum-Cohen, Neal Davies, and Katelyn Lee. Dame Jane Glover conducts.

Performance Dates: Sept. 18 & 19, 2022

Countertenor Reginald Mobley will perform music by Purcell and Händel in a program that also features music by Bach and Croft. Nicholas Kraemer conducts.

Performance Dates: Nov. 20 & 21, 2022

The Music of the Baroque Chorus will join forces with the company’s Brass ensemble for a performance of holiday music.

Performance Dates: Dec. 15-18, 2022

Dame Jane Glover will conduct Bach’s “St. Matthew Passion.” Soloists include James Gilchrist, Yulia Van Doren, Elizabeth DeShong, Paul Appleby, Roderick Williams, and Tyler Duncan. Also performing will be the Anima-Glen Ellyn Children’s Chorus.
