Elizabeth DeShong, Lucas Meachem, Kangmin Justin Kim, Nicholas Brownlee, Ying Fang Headline The Dallas Opera’s 2022-23 Season
By David SalazarThe Dallas Opera has announced its 2022-23 season.
The season opens with Verdi’s “Rigoletto.” Emmanuel Villaume conducts a cast starring George Gagnidze, Madison Leonard, René Barbera, Nadia Krasteva, Raymond Aceto, Nicholas Newtown, Erik Earl Larson, Julius Ahn, Alison Bolshoi, and Malcolm Payne Jr., among others.
The production will be directed by Tomer Zvulun and is presented in collaboration with Houston Grand Opera and The Atlanta Opera.
Performance Dates: Oct. 8 – 16, 2022
Next up is “Hansel and Gretel,” also conducted by Villaume. Doug Fitch directs a production starring Kangmin Justin Kim, Elena Villalón, Patricia Racette, Mark Delavan, and Lindsay Metzger, among others.
Performance Dates: Oct. 28 – 30, 2022
There will be a presentation of the family opera “The Billy Goats Gruff” featuring music by Donizetti, Rossini, and Mozart.
Performance Dates: Oct. 29, 2022 & Feb. 5, 2023
Another family opera will feature “The Elixir of Love.”
Performance Dates: Nov. 6, 2022 & March 25, 2023
Ying Fang and Ken Noda will headline The Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Family Recital.
Performance Dates: Jan. 15, 2023
The Hart Institute for Women Conductors Showcase concert will kick-off 2023.
Performance Dates: Jan. 28, 2023
Villaume will conduct “Das Rheingold,” which will star Nicholas Brownlee, Michael Mayes, Brenton Ryan, Amanda Echalaz, Barry Banks, Karen Slack, Lindsay Ammann, Robert Stahley, Joseph Barron, Solomon Howard, and Peixin Chen, among others.
Tomer Zvulun directs the production, which is originally from The Atlanta Opera.
Performance Dates: Feb. 10-18, 2023
Elizabeth Askren conducts “Così fan tutte” in a production by Michael Cavanagh. The opera stars Sara Gartland, Elizabeth DeShong, David Portillo, Lucas Meachem, Rod Gilfry, and Diana Newman.
Performance Dates: March 24- April 1, 2023
