Elina Garanča Postpones Two Concerts Due To Injury

By Francisco Salazar

Elina Garanča has postponed upcoming concerts due to an injury.

The mezzo-soprano noted via social media that she has been forced to postpone in Graz and Vienna due to an accident. “Dear Friends—with much regret and literally with great pain, I have to postpone my next week of concerts in Vienna and Graz. I had an accident on Monday evening and have broken a rib,” she stated. “I tend to be a good and quick healer, but my rib cage is indispensable for singing, so I have to wait and heal it well! I’ll see you very soon!”

Garanča has not set new dates for concerts but is expected to return to the stage on June 14 to join the Metropolitan Opera in Carnegie Hall and will also make her South American debut this summer as she performs in Peru, Argentina, and Brazil.

She will also sing a number of concerts in Vienna and begins her 2019-20 season with a new production of “Samson et Dalila” at the Berlin Staatsoper.
