Elina Garanča, Nadine Sierra, Xabier Anduaga & Tareq Nazmi Highlight Gran Teatre del Liceu Concert

The Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona has announced that it will stream a special concert on September 27, 2020. The concert will be realized in collaboration between Gran Teatre del Liceu and Monasterio de Montserrat.

The performance will feature the voices of mezzo-soprano Elina Garanča, soprano Nadine Sierra, tenor Xabier Anduaga, and bass Tareq Nazmi. Josep Pons will conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica del Gran Teatre del Liceu. Conxita Garcia will lead Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu.

The program will include Pärt’s “Virgencita,” Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626, and the Finale of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 Op. 125, the famed “Choral.”

“There is the pain for those who are gone, but with the hope that from now on the humanity can do better. We have not been able to find a better place to transmit this hope than the mountain of Montserrat and its abbey, where nature, wisdom, knowledge, spirituality and art meet,” said conductor Josep Pons.

“At this time of great concern, Montserrat and the Liceu want to express confidence in the values ​​of culture, and to look forward with enthusiasm,” added Salvador Alemany, the President of the Liceu.

Televisió de Catalunya will broadcast the concert on September 27, 2020, at 10:10 a.m. CET on TV3.
