Elina Garanca, Jonas Kaufmann & Diana Damrau Among Opus Klassik Winners

Opus Klassik has announced the 2020 winners.

The award for Female Singer of the year went to two artists: Elina Garanca for “Sol y Vida” and Marlis Petersen for “Dimensionen Innenwelt.” It is the first time that the award is shared by two singers. Meanwhile, the Male Singer of the year went to Danel Behle.

Mirga Grazinyte-Tyla became the first woman to receive the trophy for Conductor of the Year for “Weinberg: Symphonies NOS. 2 & 21.”

The “Soloist Recording Voice” went to Diana Damrau for the “Four Last Songs,” while Detlev Glanert won Composer of the Year for his opera “Oceane.”

Benjamin Bernheim and Elsa Dreisig won Young Artist awards for their solo albums “Benjamin Bernheim” and “Morgen,” while Jonas Kaufmann won the “Classic without Borders” category for his album “Vienna.”

Opera Recording awards went to “Rodelinda” with Jakub Józef Orlinski and Jeanine De Bique; “Faust” with Bernheim and Veronique Gens; and “Das Wunder der Heliane” with Brian Jagde and Sara Jakubiak.
