
Elīna Garanča Cancels All ‘Parsifal’ Performances in Berlin
By Francisco SalazarElīna Garanča has canceled her last performances of “Parsifal” at the Staatsoper Berlin.
The mezzo-soprano took to social media and said, “Dear friends and followers, it is with great regret that I have had to withdraw from ‘Parsifal’ in Berlin due to an ongoing health issue, which is now culminated. I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disappointment this may cause both of my wonderful fans and followers, and to my dear colleagues in the production and at Staatsoper Berlin.”
She added, “This was not an easy decision, but one I must take seriously in order to heal properly and return even stronger. Thank you for your understanding, support, and patience.”
Garanča originally canceled the first two performances on April 12 and 15 and was replaced by Tanja Ariane Baumgartner. Now Baumgartner will replace her in all performances, including April 18 and 20, 2025.
“Parsifal” will star Lauri Vasar, René Pape, Andreas Schager, and Tómas Tómasson and will be conducted by Philippe Jordan.
