Elīna Garanča, Andreas Schager & Michael Volle Lead Staatsoper Berlin’s ‘Samson et Dalila’

The Staatsoper Unter den Linden will present Camille Saint-Saëns’ and Ferdinand Lemaire’s “Samson et Dalila” in December 2021.

Mezzo-soprano superstar Elīna Garanča and famed Austrian heldentenor Andreas Schager star in the title roles, while baritone Michael Volle appears as Le Grand-Prêtre de Dagon. The cast is rounded out by Jongmin Park, Paul Gay, Magnus Dietrich, and Benjamin Chamandy.

Staatskapellmeister Thomas Guggeis will replace the Staatsoper Berlin’s General Music Director Daniel Barenboim for the performances on Dec. 5, 8 & 11, 2021, and will thus conduct the whole run. Damián Szifron is the director, while Gesine Völlm is responsible for costumes.

The run of “Samson et Dalila” at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden begins on Dec. 5, and is set to last until Dec. 19, 2021.
