Elīna Garanča, Adriana González & Leonard Bernstein Headline New CD/DVD Releases

This week, audiences will get to hear the second solo recital album by one of today’s rising stars, one of the greats mezzos of today performing Wagner, and a remastering of a historical recording. Here is a look at the new releases of the week.

Wesendonck Lieder

C Major releases Elīna Garanča’s Wesendonck Lieder record live from the 2020 Salzburg Festival. The program also featured the Vienna Philharmonic under Christian Thielemann performing Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony.

Cavalleria Rusticana/Pagliacci

Oksana Lyniv conducts the famous double bill featuring Leoncavallo and Mascagni’s famed operas from Graz. Oehms releases the new recording.

Mass

Sony Classical releases a remastered 2-CD edition of Bernstein’s MASS which includes a 140-page booklet created in collaboration with the Leonard Bernstein office with numerous previously unreleased photos and facsimiles, synopsis, and libretto and new liner notes. The recording features Alan Titus as The Celebrant with Leonard Bernstein conducting The Norman Scribner Choir & The Berkshire Boy Choir.

Albéniz: Complete songs

Adriana González and Iñaki Encina Oyón team up for the second time on a new album for Audax Records. The new album explores the complete songs of Isaac Albéniz. Following the chronological order of the compositions, the duo traces the short, but varied life of the Spanish composer and waymarker toward the twentieth century.

Singles

Anna Netrebko releases the first single to her upcoming album “Amata dalle Tenebre.” The new single “Ritorna vincitor” from “Aida” also features a music video directed by Elena Petitti di Roreto and produced by Rekorder GmbH.
