Elgin Symphony to Showcase ‘Sing-Along Messiah’

The Elgin Symphony Orchestra will host a community sing-along of Händel’s “Messiah” on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024.

The showcase, set for  7 p.m. at the Blizzard Theatre at Elgin Community College, will be led by conductor Matthew Sheppard. Soloists include soprano Maria Kanyova, mezzo-soprano Emma Dickens, tenor Stephen Michael Patrick, and bass David Govertsen. They are joined by musicians from the Elgin Symphony Orchestra, members of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestras, and an on-stage choir made up of the Elgin Master Chorale, conducted by Alberto Mantovano,

Proceeds from ticket sales and a free-will offering will benefit PADS of Elgin, a local organization providing shelter and support for the homeless.

This marks the third annual Elgin Sing-Along ‘Messiah,’ which invites audience members to sing the choruses of Handel’s famed oratorio.
