Eleonora Buratto Replaces Sondra Radvanovsky In Barcelona

Sondra Radvanovsky has canceled her final performance of Verdi’s “Luisa Miller.”

The company announced that due to pharyngitis, the soprano was forced to cancel. As a result, Eleonora Buratto will take over the title role.

Buratto has been performing the title role as part of “cast B” alongside Arturo Chacón-Cruz. The Italian soprano has performed all over the world including the Metropolitan Opera, Teatro Real de Madrid, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Opernhaus Zürich, and Berlin Staatsoper. Next season she begins her season at the Metropolitan Opera in the role of Liù in “Turandot.”

Buratto joins a cast that includes Piotr Beczala, Michael Chioldi, J’Nai Bridges, and Marko Mímica.

Buratto performs the final performance of “Luisa Miller” on July 27 with Carlo Colombara, Juan Jesus Rodriguez and Chacón-Cruz.
