Eleonora Buratto is set to bring her acclaimed Cio-Cio-San to the European stage for the first time this season at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

The soprano will sing the title role in “Madama Butterfly” in a production buy Àlex Ollé de La Fura dels Baus. The new staging, which is a co-production with Opera Australia, will be performed from June 16 to 25, 2023.

Roberto Abbado will conduct a cast that will also include Dmytro Popov as Pinkerton, Anna Maria Chiuri as Suzuki, and Roberto Frontali as Sharpless.

Maria Teresa Leva will sing in the second cast on June 17, 20, 22, and 25.
