The Maggio Musicale has announced that Eleonora Buratto will sing the role of Elisabetta in “Don Carlo.

The company made it official on social media. Buratto will join a cast that includes Mikhail Petrenko, Francesco Meli, Alexander Vinogradov, Ekaterina Semenchuck, and Benedetta Torre.

The company noted that Roman Burdenko and Massimo Cavalletti will share the role of Posa.

Buratto is coming off a run of “Don Carlo” at the Metropolitan Opera where she made her role debut and OperaWire noted, she “sang with an appealing middle voice and brought some heart-wrenching moments.”

Burdenko recently performed at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo and at the Mariinsky Theatre while Cavalletti has been performing at the Teatro Verdi di Salerno.

“Don Carlo” opens on Dec. 27 and will be conducted by Daniele Gatti.
