Elena Sancho Pereg, Xavier Sabata & Manel Esteve Headline ‘Carmina Burana’ at Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España

The Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España has announced that it will perform a version of Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana” for two pianos and the percussion on Feb. 12-14, 2021.

The showcase will be presented by the Coro Nacional, and the percussion section of the Orquesta Nacional and will star soprano Elena Sancho Pereg, counter-tenor Xavier Sabata, and baritone Manel Esteve. David Afkham will conduct.

Elena Sancho Pereg recently performed the role of Stella in Offenbach’s “Les Contes d’Hoffmann” at Gran Teatre del Liceu, the role of Nannetta in Verdi’s “Falstaff,” and Morgana in Handel’s “Alcina” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, and Oscar in Verdi’s “Un Ballo in Maschera” at Teatro Real de Madrid.

Xavier Sabata recently interpreted the roles of Ottone and Giunone in concert performances of Handel’s “Agrippina” at Teatro Real de Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu, and Théâtre des Champs-Elysées; and the role of Bertarido in “Rodelinda” at Ópera Nacional de Chile, among others.

Manel Esteve recently took on the role of Silvio in Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” at Gran Teatre del Liceu, the role of Papageno in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” at the Teatro Villamarta Jerez, and the role of Lord Enrico in Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” at the ABAO Bilbao Ópera.
