Elaine Alvarez, Samina Aslam, Wendy Bryn Harmer, Chauncy Packer Headline Chautauqua Opera’s 2022 Season

Chautauqua Opera is set to kick off its 2022 festival this July. This season’s repertory was originally announced back in 2020 but was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This article represents an updated version of that announcement with a full rundown of the casts.

The season opens with Kamala Sankaram and Susan Yankowitz’s “Thumbprint.” The opera will star Samina Aslam, Nicola Santoro, Talin Nalbandian, Felix Aguilar Tomlinson, Rolfe Dauz, and Phillip Lopez. Omer Ben Seadia directs and Kristin Roach conducts.

Performance Dates: July 1 – 28, 2022

Next up is Puccini’s “Tosca.” The opera will be directed by Sarah Ina Meyers and will be conducted by Steven Osgood. Elaine Alvarez headlines the production alongside Chauncey Packer as Cavaradossi, and Alan Held as Scarpia.

Other cast members include Eric Botto, Jake Skipworth, Bernardo Medeiros, James Eder, Luke Harnish, and Megan Fleischmann.

Performance Dates: July 15 – 29, 2022

Closing out the season will be a performance of Virgil Thomas and Gertrude Stein’s “The Mother of Us All” with a cast starring Wendy Bryn Harmer, Samina Aslam, Emily Michiko, Nicole Heinen, Nicola Santoro, Talin Nalbandian, Hilary Grace Taylor, Meredith Smietana, Stephanie Perez, Max Potter, Chauney Packer, John Kun Park, Felix Aguilar Tomlinson, Eric Botto, Bernardo Medeiros, Rolfe Dauz, Jake Skipworth, Carlos Arcos, Troy Sleeman, Luke Harnish, Alan Held, Phillip Lopez, and James Eder.

Keturah Stickann directs and Steven Osgood conducts.
