Elaine Alvarez, Alek Shrader & Daniela Mack Highlight Minnesota Opera’s 2019-20 Season

The Minnesota Opera has announced its 2019-20 season with five main stage productions and a number of rising stars. Here is a look at what audiences can expect.

Melody Moore and Alexandra Loutsion headline a production of Strauss’ “Elektra” with Brian Straufenbiel directing. Jill Grove and Mary Stonikas round out the cast with Elias Grady conducting.

Performance Dates: Oct. 5-13, 2019

Daniela Mack and Alek Shrader lead Rossini’s “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” in Francesca Zambello’s production. Rodion Pogossov and  Patrick Carfizzi round out the cast with Joseph Mechavich and Andrew Whitfield alternating in the pit.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9-17, 2019

Cortez Mitchell, Hye Jung Lee, Deanne Meek, and Christian Thurston headline Jonathan Dove’s “Flight” with Geoffrey McDonald conducting. David Radames Toro directs the new production.

Performance Dates: Jan. 25-Feb. 2, 2020

Paola Prestini and Mark Cambell’s new opera “Edward Tulane” makes its world premiere with Jack Swanson in the title role, Zachary James, Jasmine Habersham, Adriana Zabala, and Victoria Vargas. Lidiya Yankovskaya

Performance Dates: March 21-28, 2020

Seth Carico and Elaine Alvarez headline a production of Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” with Karen Kamensek and Andrew Whitfield conducting. Sara Gartland and Clay Thompson round out the cast.

Performance Dates: May 2-16, 2020
