Ekaterina Siurina to Take Over Performances of Opéra de Paris’ ‘La Bohème’

The Opéra National de Paris has announced the cast change for the role of Mimì in the Puccini, Giacosa and Illica’s opera “La bohème,” according to the official statement on the company’s website.

Per the statement, soprano Marina Costa-Jackson has withdrawn from the production due to maternity leave and  Ekaterina Siurina will thus perform in her stead during the performances on July 2, 5, 8 & 11 at the Opéra Bastille.

Siurina will join the cast that includes Julie Fuchs, Vittorio Grigolo, Lucas Meachem, Andrzek Filończyk, Krzysztof Bączyk, Franck Leguérinel, Cyrille Lovighi, Florent Mbia, Christian-Rodrigue Moungoungou, and Hyoung-Min Oh.

Lorenzo Viotti is set to conduct the production by Claus Guth. The set design is by Étienne Pluss, while Eva Dessecker will be responsible for costumes.

Ekaterina Siurina recently performed the role of Gilda in Verdi’s “Rigoletto” at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires,  Donna Anna in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at the New Zealand Opera, Mimì in “La bohème” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s “La Traviata” at the Wiener Staatsoper, among others.

The run of “La bohème” at the Opéra Bastille is set to begin on June 13 and will end on July 13, 2020.
