Ekaterina Semeunchuk will no longer sing in the Metropolitan Opera’s new production of Verdi’s “La Forza del Destino.”

Semenchuk was initially announced to portray the role of Preziosilla when the 2023-24 season was presented but the website currently lists the role as TBA and has not announced a replacement.

The mezzo-soprano recently performed a “Tribute to St Petersburg” at the Mariinsky Theatre as well as a production of “Aida” alongside Elena Stikhina and Valery Gergiev. She next appears at the Bayerische Staatsoper in “Nabucco” and “Aida.” The mezzo will also perform at the Teatro alla Scala and the Arena di Verona.

The Metropolitan Opera’s “La Forza del Destino” production is set to star Lise Davidsen, Brian Jagde, Igor Golavatenko, Soloman Howard, and Patrick Carfizzi. Mariusz Treliński directs while Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts. The opera opens on Feb. 26, 2024.
