Whoopi Goldberg is sharing her thoughts about opera after attending a performance of “La Traviata.”
The EGOT winner spoke about her experience seeing “La Traviata” at the Metropolitan Opera. She said, “it was an amazing experience and I have to tell you it’s the one art form you cant fake. You can’t pretend to be an opera singer, you actually have to do it and the chops these people have. It was magnificent.”
She concluded her words by saying that “Opera is for everybody.” She also advised the audience to go and see something “you’ve never seen before.”
In response to her comments, the Metropolitan Opera said, “We couldn’t have put it better ourselves, Whoopi!”
The Metropolitan Opera Chorus also responded stating, “Thank you for coming to see us! Come back anytime 😍😍🤩🤩🤩”
Ermonela Jaho who performed the title role added, “I am so happy you were with us dear Woopi! Thank you.♥️🙏🏻 ( your Violetta that night!)🌹.”
It’s not the first time Goldberg or the panel of The View speak about the art form. Following Timothée Chalamet scandal, the hosts slammed the actor with Goldberg telling “Be Careful Boy.” Sunny Hostin also plugged “The Life and Times of Malcolm X” after having attended a performance of the work.
