Egils Siliņš Named Chairman Of The Board At Latvian National Opera

Bass-baritone Egils Siliņš has taken over as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet.

The company announced that the bass-baritone will take over on Nov. 5, 2019.

Siliņš is one of the world’s most in demand bass baritones who has performed for over 30 years in numerous Wagnerian roles. A graduate from the Latvian Academy of Music, he has went on to perform with the Wiener Staatsoper, Royal Opera, Covent Garden, the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro all Scala, the Berlin Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, and Hamburg Staatsoper. He has also performed at the Bayreuth, Lucerne, Bregrenzer, Tanglewood, Glyndebourne, and Tokyo festivals, among others.

Egils Siliņš is an officer of the Order of the Three Stars.

For the next five years Siliņš will work together with board members Inese Eglīte and Sandis Voldiņš as the Latvian National Opera and Ballet’s Board of Directors.
