Efraín Solís, Maya Kherani, Sidney Outlaw Headline Opera San José’s 2021-22 Season

Opera San José has announced its 2021-22 season, which includes four opera productions between September 2021 and May 2022.

“We have spent the past year keeping faith with our artists and our audiences, finding ways to continue to create and share vibrant work, and welcoming a wider audience to engage with us than ever before,” Khori Dastoor, the company’s General Director, stated in a press release. “We are thrilled to be safely welcoming our patrons back into the theatre and know we could not have reached this moment without the unwavering support of our subscribers and donors.”

The season opens with “Mozart and Salieri,” which will star baritone Sidney Outlaw. The opera will be presented digitally from the company’s Heiman Digital Media Studio.

Streaming Dates: Sept. 30-Oct. 31, 2021

The first live opera of the season will be “Dido and Aeneas” starring Efraín Solís, Maya Kherani, and Nathan Stark.

Performance Dates: Nov. 13-28, 2021 

Eugene Brancoveanu will headline Bizet’s “Carmen.”

Performance Dates: Feb. 12-28, 2022

Christopher James Ray will conduct “West Side Story,” which will be directed by Crystal Manich.

Performance Dates: April 16 – May 1, 2022 

The company will also present the Irene Dalis Vocal Competition.

Performance Dates: Week of May 16, 2022
