
Edmonton Opera’s 2025-26 Season to Feature Miriam Khalil, Marion Newman & Jaclyn Grossman

In a statement, Edmonton Opera’s Artistic Director, Joel Ivany said, “Our 2026/26 season is really about what we inherit, what we keep, and what we redefine. From celebrating opera’s greatest moments to championing new voices and groundbreaking works, we invite
audiences to be part of this living legacy that is Edmonton Opera, 62 years in the community.”
The season opens with “Opera al Fresco,” set in the beautiful landscapes of the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens.
Performance Date: August 27, 2025
It continues with “Bravi! Opera’s Greatest Hits,” a grand celebration of opera’s most powerful and timeless music, in partnership with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Artistic Director Joel Ivany showcases iconic works from Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, and Bizet with Simon Rivard conducting and Zachary Rioux and Miriam Khalil as soloists.

The Rumbold Vocal Prize will be held.
Performance Date: Nov. 21, 2025
Handel at the Market will fill the EPIC Market with soaring choruses of Händel’s “Messiah.”
Performance Dates: Dec. 4-7, 2025
“Indians on Vacation” by Ian Cusson and Royce Vavrek makes its world premiere with Simon Rivard conducting a cast that includes Marion Newman, Julie Lumsden, Grant Youngblood, Keely McPeek, Giles Tomkins, and Evan Korbut.
Performance Dates: Feb. 5-7, 2026
“Dianne Kipnes Valentine’s Gala” will be held at the Fairmount Hotel Macdonald.
Performance Date: Feb. 12, 2026
The season concludes with the third chapter of Wagner’s “Siegfried” in Jonathan Dove’s arrangement. Simon Rivard conducts a cast that includes Jaclyn Grossman, Sydney Frodsham, Dion Mazerolle, Midori Marsh, and Alex Halliday.
