Edmonton Opera Unveils 2024-25 Season

Edmonton Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

The season opens with “Die Fledermaus,” directed by Joel Ivany and conducted by Simon Rivard. The opera stars Adam Luther, Jonelle Sills, John Tessier, Danielle MacMillan, Peter Monaghan, and Karoline Podolak.

Performance Date: Nov. 7 – 12, 2024

Then comes “Bluebeard’s Castle” directed by Daisy Evans who also arranged the opera in English. Russell Braun and Krisztina Szabo star.

Performance Date: Feb. 1-7, 2025

There will be a “Valentine’s Gala.”

Performance Date: Feb. 14, 2025

The company will present “Aquarius, Song of the Stars” in partnership with Telus World of Science. The work is conceived by Joel Ivany and conducted by Simon Rivard. Miriam Khalil headlines the showcase.

Performance Date: April 9-12, 2025

The season ends with “Die Walküre” in collaboration with the Citadel. The work is presented in Jonathan Dove’s arrangement and is healed by Scott Rumble, Mariya Krywaniuk, Giles Tomkins, Leila Kirves, Cathy Daniel, Hannah Crawfod, and Jaclyn Grossman.

Performance Date: June 5-13, 2025

The company will then bring back its “Opera al Fresco” concert at the University of Alberta Botanic Garden

Performance Date: August 16, 2025
