Edmonton Opera Creates New Rendition of ‘La Bamba’ to Support Edmonton Oilers

With the NHL playoffs underway, Edmonton Opera is doing its utmost to pump up its Edmonton Oilers as the team sets out on its quest for the Stanley Cup.

In order to do so, the company released a rendition of “La Bamba,” which has become an anthem for Oilers fans everywhere. Additionally, this rendition honors Joey Moss and Ben Steler, who are major fans of the song.

The performance features tenor Robert Clark, who not only performs at Edmonton Opera, but is also the anthem singer for the Oilers. Joining him is soprano Helen Hassinger. Lyrics are by Joel Ivany, artistic director of Edmonton Opera.

The Oilers opened their 2024 playoff run with a 7-4 win over the Los Angeles Kings; Los Angeles Opera has also been vocal in its support of its team via social media.
