
Edinburgh International Festival Unveils 2025 Slate, Starring Emily D’Angelo, Hugh Cutting, Ian Bostridge, Hera Hyesang Park, Mané Galoyan
By David SalazarThe Edinburgh International Festival has started to reveal its 2025 festival. Here is a breakdown of the vocal performances announced so far.
The festival opens with a rendition of Tavener’s “The Veil of the Temple,” a concert featuring the Royal Scottish National Orchestra under Sofi Jeannin as well as the Edinburgh Festival Chorus, Monteverdi Choir, National Youth Choir of Scotland, and NYCOS Chamber Choir. Sophia Burgo is the soprano soloists in the program.

The King’s Singers and Colin Currie present works by Martland, Glasser, Weelkes, Dessner, and Missy Mazzoli, among others.

The Monteverdi Choir will present works by Händel, Purcell, and Bach.

Countertenor Hugh Cutting and pianist George Ireland perform works of Hahn, Händel, Debussy, Schubert, and Wolf.

Giovanni Sala, Angela Brower, Tara Erraught, Hera Hyesang Park, Maria Warenberg, and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo star in “La Clemenza di Tito.” Maxim Emelyanychev conducts the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Opera Queensland will showcase “Orpheus and Eurydice” in association with Crica. The opera will be conducted by Laurence Cummings and showcase the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Iestyn Davis stars as Orpheus and Samantha Clarke is double cast as Eurydice and Amore.

Ian Bostridge Sir Antonio Pappano, and members of the London Symphony Orchestra join forces for works by Britten, Vaughan Williams, and Elgar.

Next up is Huang Ruo and Basil Twist’s “Book of Mountains and Seas,” conducted by Miles Lallemant and direced by Twist. The opera is a co-production between Ars Nova Copenhagen and Beth Morrison Projects.

Si Antonio Pappano will lead a performance of Vaughan Williams’ “A Season Symphony” with the Edinburgh Festival Chorus. Masabane Cecilia Rangwanasha and Will Liverman are the vocal soloists.
