Eastman School of Music has announced its 2026-27 season. Here are the vocal performances on offer.

Baritone Joshua Conyers and sopranos Nicole Cabell and Kiera Duffy, joined by Eastman students, present “In Plain Sight: The Black Anthology,” a program drawn from the Anthology of Art Songs by Black American Composers. The work premieres at Eastman’s Kilbourn Hall before a repeat performance at New York’s Merkin Hall.

Performance Date: Sept. 15 & Oct. 16, 2026

Vocal ensemble Chanticleer presents “Our American Journey,” a program tracing the evolution of American musical styles from barbershop, bluegrass, and folk song through arrangements of Irving Berlin’s “Blue Skies,” centered on a new commission from Trevor Weston exploring the relationship between American hymnody and African American spirituals.

Eastman Opera Theatre presents Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide” at Kilbourn Hall, featuring current graduate and undergraduate vocal students under the leadership of Artistic and Music Director Timothy Long.

Performance Date: Nov. 5-8, 2026

The Eastman Chorale, under interim director Donald Nally, performs a program ranging from the Renaissance polyphony of di Lasso to the contemporary works of James MacMillan and Ēriks Ešenvalds.

Vocal students of Eastman Opera Theatre present Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs for a New World” at the Sloan Performing Arts Center.

Performance Date: Dec. 10-13, 2026

Eastman Opera Artistic and Music Director Timothy Long presents selections from his collection “The North American Indigenous Songbook,” performing at the piano with support from Martha Redbone. The showcase features music by Raven Chacon, Dawn Avery, R. Carlos Nakai, and Long himself.

The Eastman Chorale and Organ Department present a program featuring works by Schütz, David Lang, Arvo Pärt, Judith Weir, and others.

Two time Grammy winning tenor and Eastman vocal professor Anthony Dean Griffey presents “An Afternoon of Love Songs,” a program of American and English art songs, joined by pianist Warren Jones.

Eastman Opera Theatre presents Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel” at Kodak Hall, featuring current graduate and undergraduate vocal students under Timothy Long.
