San Francisco chamber group Ensemble for These Times has been awarded a Silver Medal in the Global Music Awards for its recording “El Tiempo Latine.”

The double album, released on Aerocade Music on May 8, 2026, features classical chamber music by nine contemporary composers from Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, and the United States. The program includes Claudia Montero’s piano trio “Buenos Aires en tres,” Gabriela Lena Frank’s “Midnight Serenades,” inti figgis-vizueta’s “the motion between three worlds,” Gabriela Ortiz’s “Su-muy-key,” Tania León’s “Tumbao,” José Bragato’s “Milontan,” Angélica Negrón’s “Sueño recurrente no. 1,” and Carla Lucero’s arrangements from her opera “Juana,” about the seventeenth century Mexican nun Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. The album concludes with “The Unseen,” a song cycle E4TT commissioned Brennan Stokes to write during the pandemic, set to poems by Sara Teasdale.

The recording was performed by soprano Nanette McGuinness, coloratura soprano Chelsea Hollow, violinist Lylia Guion, cellist Megan Chartier, and pianist Margaret Halbig.

“We first encountered Claudia Montero’s music when she was kind enough to voice one of the haikus on our recording of music by Spanish composer Mercedes Zavala, and we immediately fell in love with her beautiful homage to the Argentinian capital, Buenos Aires en tres,” said Nanette McGuinness, E4TT co founder and Artistic Executive Director, per an official press release. “As we explored the brilliant music by the many talented contemporary classical Latine composers, we encountered one treasure after another, far more than can begin to fit on a double album. So El Tiempo Latine is really just the tip of an amazing iceberg of fabulous repertory.”

Ensemble for These Times won The American Prize in 2021 for Chamber Music Performance. The ensemble consists of soprano and Artistic Executive Director Nanette McGuinness, cellist Megan Chartier, pianist Margaret Halbig, and co founder and Senior Artistic Advisor, composer David Garner. All six of the ensemble’s albums have medaled in the Global Music Awards.
