Dutch National Opera to World Premiere ‘Le lacrime di Eros’

By Francisco Salazar

The Dutch National Opera is set to present the world premiere of “Le lacrime di Eros” in a brand-new production by theatre director Romeo Castellucci, and conductor Raphaël Pichon.

The main source of inspiration is the creativity and experimental freedom that reigned in Florence during the late 16th and early 17th centuries, allowing them to delve deeper into a subject that has long been central to opera: love.

“Le lacrime di Eros” is characterized by exploration and innovation, but also by an awareness that the past is integral to the future. The opera will star Mariana Flores, Huw Montague Rendall, Nahuel di Pierro, Lucile Richardot and Zachary Wilder.

The world premiere of “Le lacrime di Eros” will take place on Jan. 20, 2022, with performances also on Jan. 22, 24, 26, 28, and 30.
