Dresden Philharmonic Announces 2026-27 Season Featuring Thomas Hampson, Sunnyboy Dladla, Christian Gerhaher & Julia Kleiter

The Dresden Philharmonic has announced its 2026-27 season. Here is a look at the vocal performances.

Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann conducts Mendelssohn with soloists Julia Kleiter, Marie Henriette Reinhold, and Mauro Peter.

Performance Date: Sept. 4, 2026


Sir Donald Runnicles conducts Orff’s “Carmina Burana” with Lilit Davtyan, Sunnyboy Dladla, and Thomas Lehman.

Performance Dates: Sept. 12 & 13, 2026


The orchestra is set to present the children’s opera “Brundibár.”

Performance Dates: Oct. 2 & 3, 2026


Iris Geißler conducts “Lesung und Musik zum 145” with Roman Knižka, Anna Moriová and Martin Levicky.

Performance Date: Oct. 30, 2026


Kreuzkantor Martin Lehmann conducts Bach’s “Weihnachtsoratorium.”

Performance Date: Dec. 13, 2026


Ádám Fischer conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Ruzan Mantashyan. The concert includes Haydn’s Symphony 104.

Performance Dates: Dec. 18 & 19, 2026


Gunter Berger and Karolina Juodelyte perform in the Christmas Concert.

Performance Dates: Dec. 20, 2026


Sir Donald Runnicles and Christian Gerhaher team up for music by Webern, Schubert and Strauss.

Performance Dates: Jan. 16 & 17, 2027


Hans-Christoph Rademann conducts Penderecki and Haydn with soloists Louise McClelland Jacobsen, Marie Henriette Reinhold, Patrick Grahl,  and Matthias Winckhler.

Performance Date: Feb. 13, 2027


Gunter Berger conducts the Dresdner Schulchöre Philharmonischer and Kinderchor Dresden.

Performance Date: April 20, 2027

Tabita Berglund conducts Beethoven’s “Fantasy” with pianist Kirill Gerstein and soloists. The program also includes music by Kurtág, Nielsen, and Strauss.

Performance Dates: April 23 & 24, 2027


The Philharmonic Choir Dresden perform a concert.

Performance Date: April 25, 2027


Sir Donald Runnicles conducts Britten’s “Serenade for Tenor, Horn, and Strings” with Kieran Carrel and Stefan Dohr. The concert also includes James MacMillan’s Symphony No. 6 (commissioned work in collaboration with The Hallé Manchester, German premiere).

Performance Date: April 28, 2027


Leoš Janáček’s Sinfonietta op. 60 and Glagolitic Mass (“Glagolská mse”) will be conducted by David Robertson with soloists Katerina Knìžíková, Lucie Hilscherová, Pavol Breslik, Jan Martiník, and Iveta Apkalna.

Performance Date: May 20, 2027


Ken-David Masur and Thomas Hampson take on a program of music by Copland, Ives, Daugherty, and Barber.

Performance Date: June 5, 2027


Dorothee Oberlinger conducts Beethoven’s “Leonore” with Sreten Manojlovic, Jordan Shanahan, Sebastian Kohlhepp, Julia Grüter, Tobias Kehrer, Siobhan Stagg, and Cornel Frey.

Performance Date: June 13, 2027
