Dorothea Herbert, Clay Hilley & Callum Thorpe Highlight Glyndebourne Tour 2021

The Glyndebourne Festival has announced its fall tour 2021 that will take place from October 8 – Dec. 12, 2021. Here is the full slate.

Ludwig van Beethoven‘s only opera “Fidelio” will star Clay Hilley as Don Florestan, Callum Thorpe in the role of Rocco, Carrie-Ann Williams as Marzelline, Gavan Ring in the role of Jaquino, Dingle Yandell as Don Pizzaro, and Jonathan Lemalu as Don Fernando. German dramatic soprano Dorothea Herbert will make her long-anticipated Glyndebourne debut in the role of Leonore. Ben Glassberg conducts the Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra in the production by Frederic Wake-Walker.

Performance dates: Oct. 8 – Oct. 31, 2021

Gaetano Donizetti‘s “Don Pasquale” will showcase Mariam Battistelli in the role of Norina, Konstantin Suchkov as Malatesta, Konu Kim as Ernesto, and Ricardo Seguel in the title role. Mariame Clément will conduct the Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra.

Igor Stravinsky‘s “The Rake’s Progress” will spotlight Matthew Best as Father Truelove, Nardus Williams as Anne Truelove, Frederick Jones in the role of Tom Rakewell, Sam Carl in the role of Nick Shadow, Fiona Kimm as Mother Goose, Rosie Aldridge as Baba The Turk, and Daniel Norman as Sellem. Kerem Hasan conducts the Glyndebourne Tour Orchestra in the production by John Cox.

Handel‘s oratorio “Messiah” will be performed alongside three operas and will feature Glyndebourne’s Chorus center-stage.
