The Donizetti Opera Festival has announced postponed its upcoming production of “La Fille du Régiment.”

The production, which was set to star Xabier Anduaga and Sara Blanch, will be pushed to 2021 due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

As a result, the festival will showcase Anduaga in a recital alongside Giulio Zappa on Nov. 22 at the Teatro Sociale and Paolo Bordogna and Sara Blanch in concert on Nov. 29.

The festival will open with the originally planned concert performances of “Belisario” with Placido Domingo, Davinia Rodriguez, Annalisa Stroppa, and Celso Albelo and will also showcase a new production of “Marino Faliero” with Javier Camarena and Francesca Dotto. There will also be a production of “Le Nozze in Villa” as part of the Donizetti 200 project.

The festival will also celebrate Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with a concert performance of “L’amor coniugale” by Giovanni Simone Mayr.
