The Donizetti Opera Festival has announced the three titles for the 2022 edition.

The festival, which is set to take place in November and December, will present a new critical edition of  “La favorite,” by Rebecca Harris Warrick from Ricordi. Music Director Riccardo Frizza will direct the operatic masterpiece.

The second title for the season will be “L’aio nell’imbarazzo” in a critical edition by Maria Chiara Bertieri and directed by Francesco Micheli. The third production, which is part of the “Donizetti 200” series, will be “Chiara e Serafina, ossia il pirata,” in a critical edition by Alberto Sonzogni in collaboration with the Accademia Teatro alla Scala.

The news comes as the 2021 edition comes to an end. This year’s edition presented productions of “La Fille du Regiment,” “L’Elisir d’Amore,” and Mayr’s “Medea in Corinto.”
