Donizetti Festival Announces Cast & Program Changes

The Donizetti Opera has announced a cast and program change.

The festival announced Carmela Remigio will take over the role of Antonina in “Belisario,” replacing Davinia Rodriguez.

Remigio is no stranger to the festival having performed in the its productions of “Il Castello di Kenilworth,” “Lucrezia Borgia” and “Anna Bolena.”

She joins a cast that includes Plácido Domingo, Annalisa Stroppa, and Celso Albelo.

The festival also announced that “Belisario” will now open on Nov. 21 instead of the originally planned Nov. 19 date. The festival has also canceled Xabier Anduaga’s planned recital and is set to stream productions of “Marino Faliero” and “Le Nozze in Villa.” The festival will also stream “Belisario” via its new Donizetti Web TV.
