Dolors Zajick has officially announced her retirement from the Stage.

After having spoken about it in the Italian press, the legendary mezzo-soprano announced she will sing her final performances in the spring of 2020 at the Metropolitan Opera in New York in “Kát’a Kabanová.”

Zajick made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Azucena in “Il Trovatore” in 1988 and went on to perform some of her greatest roles with the company, including Amneris in “Aida,” Adalgisa in “Norma,” Lady Macbeth in “Macbeth” and Ulrica in “Un Ballo in Maschera,” among others.

This season, Zajick performed her last “Il Trovatore” at the Arena di Verona and Laura in “La Gioconda” at the Liceu in Barcelona.

“Kát’a Kabanová” is set to be performed on May 2, 6, and 9, 2020.
