The final recording in the category is Verdi’s “Rigoletto” starring Dmitri Hvorostovsky, who receives his second posthumous nomination in a row. The recording also stars Nadine Sierra, Francesco Demuro and is conducted by Constantine Orbelian.
In the Best Classical Vocal Album, Anthony Roth Costanzo’s “ARC” was nominated alongside Philippe Jaroussky’s ‘The Handel Album,” Sabine Devieilhe’s “Mirages,” Randall Scarlata’s “Winterreise,” and Karim Sulayman “Song of Orpheus-Monteverdi, Caccini, D’India
Two opera recordings were nominated in the Best Contemporary Classical Composition including the aforementioned “The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs” and Jake Heggie and Terrence McNally’s “Great Scott” conducted by Patrick Summers and starring Michael Mayes, Rodell Rosel, Kevin Burdette, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Nathan Gunn, Frederica von Stade, Ailyn Pérez, and Joyce DiDonato.
