Director William Kentridge to Talk ‘Wozzeck’ At Morgan Library & Museum

On Sunday, December 1, 2019, the Morgan Library & Museum will partner with the Metropolitan Opera to showcase “William Kentridge in Conversation.” The event begins at 3 p.m.
The event will feature the famed director talking about his upcoming production of Alban Berg’s “Wozzeck,” which opens on Dec. 27, 2019. He will discuss the creative process behind the staging, and the decision to stage the tragic opera in the pre-World War I era.
Those who attend the program will also get a chance to check out the current “Verdi: Creating Otello and Falstaff” exhibition.
“Wozzeck” will star Peter Mattei in the title role with Elza van den Heever as Marie and Tamara Mumford as Margaret. Christopher Ventris is set to appear as the Drum Major with Gerhard Siegel as The Captain. Andrew Staples will play Andres and Christian Van Horn will be the Doctor. Yannick Nézet-Séguin will conduct the production.
