Diana Damrau & Riccardo Muti Highlight Orchestra of the Bayerischen Rundfunks’s 2019-20 Season

The Orchestra of the Bayerischen Rundfunks has announced its 2019-20 season. For this announcement we have only concentrated on the vocal performances in Munich and the Bavarian area.

Daniel Harding conducts Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with soprano Hanna-Elisabeth Muller and mezzo soprano Okka Von der Damerau.

Performance Dates: Sept. 26-28, 2019

Mariss Jansons and Diana Damrau perform a program of Strauss arias and Lieder with Brahms’ Symphony No. 4.

Performance Dates: Oct. 3-4, 2019

Riccardo Muti conducts Ilse Eerens, Henriette Godde, Nicholas Phan, Maciej Kwasnikowski, and Gianluca Buratto in Schubert’s Mass No. 6. The program also includes the composer’s Italian Overture and Symphony No. 7.

Performance Dates: Oct. 17-18, 2019

Herbert Blomstedt conducts Christina Landshamer, Anna Lucia Richter, Robin Tritschler, Johann Kristinsson and the Chor Des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor with the composer’s Symphony No. 39.

Performance Dates: Dec. 19-21, 2019

Robin Ticciati leads the Chor Des Bayerischen Rundfunks in selections from Wagner’s “Parsifal,” George Benjamin’s “Sudden Time” and Sibelius’ Symphony No. 7.

Performance Dates: Jan. 9-10, 2020

Matthias Pintscher conducts baritone Georg Nigl in works by Nina Šenk and Matthias Pintscher.

Performance Dates: Feb. 7, 2020

Lydia Teuscher joins the Münchner Streichquartett in program that will include music by Purcell, Pergolesi, Schubert, and Webern.

Performance Dates: Feb. 8-9, 2020

Sir John Eliot Gardiner performs with the Monteverdi Choir in Grainger’s British Folk-Music Settings and Holst’s The Planets.

Performance Dates: March 19-20, 2020

Mariss Jansons conducts Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with Camilla Tilling, Gerhild Romberger, Benjamin Brunsm, and Shenyang.

Performance Dates: April 2-3, 2020

Yannick Nezet-Seguin and Carolyn Sampson perform Poulenc’s Stabat Mater for Soprano and Orchestra with Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 3.

Performance Dates: April 30-May 1, 2020

Pablo Heras-Casado leads Anja Petersen and pianist Tamara Stefanovich in works by Olga Neuwirth.

Performance Dates: May 29, 2020

The Chor Des Bayerischen Rundfunks is led by Johannes Kalitzke in works by Milica Djordjevic and Luc Ferrari.

Performance Dates: June 19, 2020

Franz Welser-Most conducts pianist Igor Levi and the Chor Des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Beethoven’s Leonore Overture, the Choral Fantasy and Symphony No. 7.
