Diana Damrau, Anna Netrebko Headline Met Opera’s 2019 Summer Encores Series

The Metropolitan Opera has announced its 2019 Summer Encores series which will feature four total operas over the years.

First up will be “Roméo et Juliette” which features Diana Damrau and Vittorio Grigolo in the title roles. This was transmitted live on Jan. 21, 2017, but this summer will appear in the U.S. on June 19, 2019 and in Canada on the 19th and 30th of June.

Next up will be Puccini’s “La Bohème,” which will also feature Grigolo. The tenor sings alongside Kristine Opolais in a production that was filmed on April 5, 2014. That cast was conducted by Stefano Ranzani. Audiences in the U.S. will get to see it on June 26, while Canadians will see it on June 26 and July 6.

The 2007 transmission of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” is next up on the slate. This legendary showcase featured Juan Diego Flórez, Joyce DiDonato, and Peter Mattei. Performances will take place on July 10 in the U.S. and July 17 and 21 in Canada.

Finally, this season’s transmission of “Aida” will take the silver screen once more with Anna Netrebko and Anita Rachvelishvili stealing the show. U.S. audiences will see it on July 17 while Canadian moviegoers can head to relive the experience on July 24 and August 4.
