The Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar has announced the cancellation of the remainder of its regular 2020-21 season.

Per an official press release, the opera house has decided not to resume performances in its indoor venues for the rest of the season. The DNT Weimar has also announced the series of summer outdoor performances which will take place between June 18 and August 22, 2021.

Among those performances will be presentations of Shakespeare’s play “As you like it,” and Mozart‘s opera “La finta giardiniera.”

The Deutsches Nationaltheater und Staatskapelle Weimar has been closed since early November 2020 due to ongoing concerns over the spread of COVID-19. The seven-day incidence in Germany currently stands at 41, thus enabling the reopening of cultural venues. Many theaters opted to end their season prematurely due to the heavy uncertainty and lack of planning possibilities.

The current seven-day incidence in Weimar stands at 52.1.
