The Deutsches Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar has officially announced that it will extend its respective closures until at least March 2021.

“In order to reduce contacts, rehearsals will also be suspended until January 31, and work behind the scenes will be limited in all areas to indispensable and necessary activities. The extended closing time will affect our planned operatic performances and concerts until July 2021. We are working intensively on the new schedule,” added Deutsches Nationaltheater and Staatskapelle Weimar in the statement.

The German government and Prime Ministers of German federal states have extended the national lockdown until the end of January 2021. Germany is still logging a high number of daily COVID-19 infections, with 45,333 new cases on Jan. 7, 2021.
