Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces New Queen of The Night for ‘Die Zauberflöte’

Soprano Aleksandra Jovanovic will not be appearing in the presentation of Mozart and Schikaneder’s “Die Zauberflöte” on February 8 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, according to the official statement on the company’s website.
As a result, soprano Antonina Vesenina will perform in her stead.
Vesenina will join the cast that includes Tobias Kehrer, Andrei Danilov, Siobhan Stagg, Seth Carico, Padraic Rowan, Gideon Poppe, Jacquelyn Stucker, Karis Tucker, Anna Buslidze, Meechot Marrero, Simon Pauly, Burkhard Ulrich, Clemens Bieber, and Andrew Harris.
Daniel Carter is set to conduct the production by Günter Krämer. The stage design and costumes by Andreas Reinhardt.
Antonina Vesenina has recently performed the roles of Rosina in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and Queen of Shemakha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Golden Cockerel” at the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg. The soprano has also performed the role of Königin der Nacht in “Die Zauberflöte” at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, among others.
Aleksandra Jovanovic is set to be back onstage for the performance of “Die Zauberflöte” at the Staatstheater Wiesbaden on March 14, 2020.
