Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Last Minute Cast Change For ‘Jenůfa’

Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced that soprano Andrea Danková will replace Rachel Harnisch in the title role of Janaček’s “Jenůfa” for the performance on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Harnisch will act out the role on stage, while Danková will sing the role from the side of the stage.
Danková will join a cast that includes Renate Behle, Robert Watson, Ladislav Elgr, Evelyn Herlitzius, Philipp Jekal, Stephen Bronk, Jacquelyn Stucker, Nadine Secunde, Fionnuala McCarthy, Karis Tucker and Meechot Marrero.
Donald C. Runnicles will conduct the production by Christof Loy with stage design is by Dirk Becker.
Danková recently performed the role of “Jenůfa” at the Teatro Massimo di Palermo, the role of Káťa in Janaček’s “Káťa Kabanová” at the Teatro Regio di Torino, and the role of Elisabetta di Valois in “Don Carlo” at the Slovak National Theatre, among others.
Rachel Harnisch is set to be back on stage for the final performance of “Jenůfa” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin on Jan. 31.
