Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Changes For ‘Madama Butterfly’

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced cast changes for Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly.”

The company announced that Elena Guseva will replace Ermonela Jaho in the role of Cio-Cio-San while tenor Ragaa Eldin will replace Migran Agadzhanyan in the role of B. F. Pinkerton.

Guseva has appeared at the Wiener Staatsoper in “Otello” and “Aida” as well as “Madama Butterfly.” This season she is scheduled to perform in Lyon, Hamburg and Sydney. Meanwhile, Eldin has sung the role of Calaf in “Turandot” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin as well as the role of B.F. Pinkerton at the Teatro Carlo Felice.

Guseva and Eldin will join cast members Irene Roberts and Dong-Hwan Lee with conductor Ramón Tebar leading in the pit.

Performances are set for Nov. 7 and 10, 2019.
