Deutsche Oper Berlin Announces Cast Changes for ‘Carmen’ & ‘La Fiamma’

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced cast changes for its productions of “Carmen” and “La Fiamma.”

The company said that for Sept. 1 and 6 performances, Nina Solodovnikova will take over the role of Micaëla replacing Sua Jo while for the Sept. 6 and 12 performances Joel Allison will take over the role of Escamillo in place of Byung Gil Kim.

Finally, for the Sept. 21 performance, Artur Garbas takes over the role of Moralès in place of Dean Murphy.

“Carmen” is set to star Maria Kataeva, Annika Schlicht, Maria Motolygina, Matthew Newlin, Byung Gil Kim, and Joel Allison. The production will be presented from Sept. 1 through June 22 and will be conducted by Ariane Matiakh and Giulio Cilona.

Meanwhile for the production of “La Fiamma,” Ivan Inverardi will take over the role of Basilio in place of Vladislav Sulimsky for performances. Inverardi will join a cast that includes Aušrine Stundyte, Georgy Vasiliev, Martina Serafin, Doris Soffel, and Sua Jo. Carlo Rizzi conducts the new production by Christof Loy which opens on Sept. 29, 2024.
