The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced that tenor Marc Laho will replace Tomislav Mužek on Nov. 8, 2019 in “Les Contes d’Hoffman.”

Laho is a Belgian lyric tenor who made his Deutsche Oper Berlin debut in 2004 and has sung in such operas as “Don Pasquale” and “La Favorite,” among others. He has also appeared at the Opera Royal de Wallonie in “Le Damnation of Faust,” “Carmen,” and  “Jerusalem.” He has also sung Faust in “Le Damnation of Faust” at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, as well as Pollione in “Norma” and Jason in “Médée” at Opéra de Rouen Normandie.

Laho joins a cast that includes Heather Engebretson as the four heroines, Byung Gil Kim as the four villains, and Irene Roberts as Nicklausse. Daniel Carter conducts the production by Laurent Pelly.

Mužek returns to the stage for Weber’s “Der Freischütz” at the Semperoper Dresden.
